We are more than just a Collection Management Software company. We are a team of museum and archives professionals and top-notch software engineers. Your system will be supported and upgraded, advancing with technology as it evolves.
Our story begins in 1988 when the archaeology teams from Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello and Poplar Forest sites approached software engineer David Edwards requesting a custom collections management system to manage their sites and artifacts. The system that Dave produced soon became useful to many large archaeological sites in Virginia, including Jamestown Rediscovery, Colonial Williamsburg, and Mount Vernon.
Total Museum Information System
Recognizing a need in the museum world for a system that went beyond managing archaeology sites, Dave began researching museum automation and consulting with many curators and archivists. The resulting system integrated object collections, archives, reference libraries, and archaeological sites all in one system.
As the word spread about this useful CMS, the company’s client base grew and soon experienced museum, archival, and archaeological professionals joined the Re:discovery Software team. In 1997 the National Park Service selected Re:discovery Software to develop their large custom system that would manage more than 300 sites across the country.
We are proud of our notable and diverse clientele, including art museums, history museums & sites, science museums, corporate collections and archives, private collections, non-profit organizations, universities, archaeological collections & sites, government agencies on the federal, state, and local levels, and so much more.
