Our story begins in 1988 when the archaeology teams from Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello and Poplar Forest sites approached software engineer David Edwards requesting a custom collections management system to manage their sites and artifacts. The system that Dave produced soon became useful to many large archaeological sites in Virginia, including Jamestown Rediscovery, Colonial Williamsburg, and Mount Vernon.
Total Museum Information System
Recognizing a need in the museum world for a system that went beyond managing archaeology sites, Dave began researching museum automation and consulting with many curators and archivists. The resulting system integrated object collections, archives, reference libraries, and archaeological sites all in one system.
As the word spread about this useful CMS, the company’s client base grew and soon experienced museum, archival, and archaeological professionals joined the Re:discovery Software team. In 1997 the National Park Service selected Re:discovery Software to develop their large custom system that would manage more than 300 sites across the country.

President, David L. Edwards
Dave, founder and president, has over 30 years experience in software development. As the principal architect of Re:discovery products, Dave has continually worked with museum professionals and technical specialists to develop the proven premier collections management system.
Director of Operations, Rosy Stone
Rosy, working with the Client Services team, oversees installation, customization, conversion, and training services at RSI. She came to RSI with curatorial experience, and she has a Master’s degree in American History.
Director of Conversion Services, Monica Nabors
Monica Nabors manages client services, customization, conversions, training, and support for RSI’s clients. Monica came to Re:discovery from the National Park Service where she’d been a museum specialist at the Western Archeological and Conservation Center and has curatorial experience from other previous positions. Monica has both a BS and a Master’s degree in Anthropology.
Sales Manager, Samuel Wilkinson
Samuel brings a passion for historical preservation and living history to the team at Re:discovery – helping our clients meet their collection management needs and excel in their mission to reach the public. Samuel graduated from the University of Virginia with a B.A. in Cognitive Science in 2020 and then from IBM’s Global Sales School in 2022. He also has a background in technical sales, client engagement, and security.
